About
With a strong sense of her African roots Renee tends to gravitate towards her motherland in her music. This can be seen with tracks such as 'Chebo' a Zambian folk song which features sound samples from her time as an aid worker in the rural villages of Zambia, and the swahili track 'Malaika' a tribute to Harry Belafonte and Mama Africa herself Miriam Makeba.
Renee's backing vocals can be found on Xavier Rudd's latest album 'Koonyum Sun' alongside South African duo Izintaba. She is also a backing vocalist on Raz Bin Sam's latest album 'Own this life' and on Afro Dizzy Acts latest album 'Peace love and Unity' which features West African lead vocalist Jali Buba Kuyateh. Renee can be found performing live with Blackbirds, a Byron Bay trio of ukulele, guitar, percussion and male and female vocal harmonies, and with Blackbirds as a childrens entertainer.
Renee's background is in Occupational Therapy and Youth Work specialising in supporting people to overcome personal barriers. She has been strongly involved in supporting disabled people amongst minority/indigenous communities in London, Zambia, Bulgaria, New Zealand and Australia.
